Fayetteville Technical Community College has a new Collision Repair and Refinishing Program. Students will follow one of three tracks: estimator, non-structural technician, or refinish technician. Core curriculum reinforces necessary on-the-job skills: humanities courses reinforce customer service and leadership skills; math classes focus on measurement systems and recording, manipulating and analyzing data; English classes teach written and verbal communication skills to support standard industry reports and customer interaction. Crash car repair gets the high tech treatment at FTCC

Sept. 09–In 2014, repairing a crashed car takes an understanding of chemistry and metallurgy, and the smarts to recognize that every make and model is different.
“It’s no longer Jimbo and Billy Bob’s bait shop and collision repair,” said Paul Gage. “A technician today is an engineer. They’re engineering a car to respond correctly to collision energy.”
Gage, an industry veteran, is leading a new associate degree program in advanced collision repair at Fayetteville Technical Community College. The curriculum was drafted by Gage and others in the industry to qualify graduates to work on vehicles in an era of rapid and dramatic changes in vehicle design and repair. (more…)

Military Trade Show Starts Tuesday at FTCC

An annual trade show that draws hundreds of defense contractors to Fayetteville begins Tuesday, Aug. 5.
The 13th annual N.C. Defense and Economic Development Trade Show on the campus of Fayetteville Technical Community College is expected to attract at least 800 companies, according to Scott Dorney. It is the largest gathering of military contractors in the state. (more…)
